Project This Way: An Open Letter to the Born This...
Dear Born This Way Foundation,
I am a 20 year-old queer man. I live in Minneapolis MN and I come across all walks of life here. I’m not perfect, but I try not to be judgmental and can only try to be as socially aware and non-discriminatory as I can. I am also a Lady Gaga fan.
In the wake of the plethora of nasty, sexist and agist comments regarding Madonna and her upcoming single...

MSI Tour 2012 Update #2
Reportedly, there will be a Left Rights-oriented surprise on the upcoming Mindless Self Indulgence tour. A lot of people are placing bets on I’m on Crack, but honestly I think it’s probably White. Which is fine with me; White should have been a Mindless single in the first place.
Hopes/thoughts on what it could be?

Informal Review: Tori Amos, Night of Hunters Tour,...
I know people are giving this one a lot of flack for being mostly slow songs (cheesy ones, at that) and for a lot of setlist repeats from recent shows, which I think is understandable, but as my only show for this tour, I was floored throughout the entire show. I’ve only seen her live once in person prior to this, which was in Minneapolis in 2009, and despite loving that show too, tonight...

MSI Tour 2012 FAQ #1
Q: Do we know whether or not Lyn-Z is touring with them?
A: Technically no, we don’t know the answer to that, however, I believe it is safe to assume that yes, Lyn-Z will be on tour.

Mindless Self Indulgence Tour Dates & Coverage...
So it’s that time again. Back when I actually had a website and forum to run (http://nationofcrackers.com - apparently its still up there albeit not functioning, go check out the sweet archives of ill shit) we would work together to get full bootlegs, setlists, photos, and such organized so that everyone could get the most out of tour time. Since that’s no longer possible, we’ll...

Re: Goddesses
My friend Max posted an entry the other day talking about his strongest female influences and I’m following suit- these women have had a profound effect on my life. Don’t mind me- they’re all musicians. Then again, this allegedly loosely is a music blog, so I guess it fits. ANYWAYS.
1. Alanis Morissette. Jagged Little Pill was the very first record I owned growing up. Alanis...

My problems with the Yoü & I video:
The song sucks. Let’s be completely honest.
This is a dance pop video set to an MOR country rock ballad. This doesn’t work here.
The cinematography is pretty shoddy in the dance scenes.
There are so many different concepts and visions here that none of them feel fully developed.
And on that note, it feels all too much like she’s trying...

I'm the Fucking Beekeeper, Who the Fuck are You?:...
I find myself once again having little to no interest in going to Pride this year. In fact, this has happened every year since I can remember while being openly gay. I hype and hype myself up for it, but sure enough, one or two weeks away and something inside of me shouts “NO- I’M NOT GOING,” like some bratty preschooler before church. Then I start thinking about the constructs...

Nostalgia, Inspiration, and Where We Fit In
Heading into the theatre yesterday afternoon to see Woody Allen’s new film, “Midnight in Paris,” I can’t say I was expecting much, especially given his recent track record. Nonetheless, I enjoyed “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” enough that evidently I was willing to give it a shot.
What’s interesting about “Midnight” isn’t so much that actor...
ser-wolfsbane asked: Re: "I think it has high potential as a possible single" - I'm not sure what the airplay laws are like in the states, but British Radio won't play music with foreign language with swears in it even if it isn't English. I remember just the other week a lot of people were requesting Rammstein but the DJ wouldn't play it because they were unsure of the lyrical...
